Wisdom

My Dear Brethren,

As we enter the month of October, let us continue to strengthen the bonds of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth. May our unity, cooperation and commitment to the Craft guide us in every undertakings.

Let us support our Lodge, attend our communications and Degree work, participate in Lodge visitations , and extend our hands of fellowship to every Brother. A strong Lodge is built not by one brother alone, but by Brethren working together in harmony.

Let us remain faithful to our Masonic Obligations, conduct ourselves with dignity and respect, and continue our journey " Unity and Cooperation is the key of success towards Lodge harmony.

May the Great Architect of The Universe guide us and bless our Lodge, our Officers, our Brethren and Families.

Fraternally,

Edwin Berlanas

Strength

Type your November Message Brethren,

As we enter October, let us renew our commitment to the fellowship and shared work that strengthen our lodge. Each meeting offers an opportunity to learn, support one another, and put the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth into practice. Your presence and participation help make that work meaningful.

Please watch for messages regarding our upcoming lodge visitations. Visiting our neighboring lodges is a wonderful way to strengthen fraternal bonds, meet other Brethren, and experience the fellowship that extends beyond our own lodge. I encourage you to join us as your schedule allows and represent King Solomon Lodge with pride.

Let us also remain mindful of our Brethren and their families who may need encouragement or assistance. A phone call, a visit, or a simple act of kindness can make a lasting difference.

I look forward to seeing you in lodge and sharing in the work and fellowship ahead.

Fraternally,

Ryan Rivadelo, PM

Beauty

Brethren,

First, I want to greet all our Brothers celebrating their birthdays this October. Happy birthday Brothers! Wishing you all good health, happiness, and many more blessings in the year ahead. I hope you get to enjoy your special day with your family, friends, and Brothers.

It’s hard to believe that we are already entering the last quarter of the year. The year went by pretty fast, and October is a good reminder that we only have a few months left to finish what we started and make the most of the rest of 2026.

For me, this is also a good time to look back at everything we’ve done together as a Lodge, the meetings, degrees, events, fellowship, and all the time everyone has given throughout the year. Not everything will always go perfectly, but what matters is that we continue to support each other, learn from each experience, and keep moving forward together.

As we go through these last few months, I hope we can continue to show up for one another, especially for our newer Brothers, and keep the brotherhood and harmony strong within the Lodge. Sometimes it’s the simple things, checking on a Brother, helping during an event, attending a degree or just spending time together, that make the biggest difference.

Let’s enjoy the rest of the year, continue building good memories together, and finish 2026 strong as a Lodge.

Wishing everyone a great month of October.

Fraternally,

Miro Oba

Lodge Updates

Brethren, Good Day Everyone.. First, the Good News. I am happy to report that King Solomon Lodge No. 58 has maintained the number of members despite losing few brother to Non-Payment of Dues. Kudos to the hard working brothers. Let’s maintain this feat or even surpass next year. Now for the bad news: The issue I want to touch is the other duty of the Secretary, i.e., Chairman of Delinquency Committee. I want to be blunt here as the Annual Dues of the Members are the main life blood of the lodge in order to operate like a well-oiled machine. If a member does not pay their Dues, the lodge has to pay the Grand Lodge the per Capita just to carry the member for another year. This is putting a strain on the finances of the lodge, albeit the lodge is not struggling financially but if this situation persist, the lodge will soon be in peril. Every applicant for membership of a lodge cannot escape the tough question from the Investigating Team. The question is: Is the Applicant financially able to afford the entrance fee and the payment of the annual dues without hardship to himself or family. Brethren, the foremost duty of a member is to honor the commitments and principles undertaken upon becoming a Mason. Protecting the reputation and well-being of his lodge is paramount. This year, 18 % of brothers still have NOT paid their 2026 Annual Dues. This number is quite high as it is already almost the end of the 2026 Masonic calendar. Let’s keep our obligation fulfilled so that our lodge can continue to provide valuable support to it activities and charity giving. Fraternally, Mike D. Marave, PM Secretary

Reflecting in the Dark: The Example of St. John the Baptist

June Masonic Tidbit: The month of June has special significance for us Freemasons. It is the month we celebrate the Feast of St. John the Baptist. The first Grand Lodge was formed on June 24, 1717, the Feast of St. John the Baptist, in England. This may arise from old tradition as St. John the Baptist was regarded as the Patron of Stonemasons in Europe during the Middle Ages. He is one of the patron saints of the fraternity. The other being John the Evangelist. Saint John the Baptist is known Biblically as being the one preparing the way for Jesus Christ. He holds a special place in Masonry as he symbolizes moral integrity, spiritual purity and the pursuit and dedication to the truth. Ancient Brethren saw him as a model of ethical behavior and dedication to higher principles. As such, each and every true Mason should try his best to emulate St. John the Baptist. Use the time when the lodge is dark to contemplate and put into practice, the lessons taught by the example of this great man and return to the lodge a better and improved version of yourself….. -Various sources Richard Orden, PM. 2024, 2019

Fun Fact

Order, Progress, Knowledge

May is the Fifth month of the Gregorian Calendar. Masonically, some jurisdictions celebrate this month as Public Awareness Month, and lodges are encouraged to foster understanding of the Masonic Fraternity. Some lodges may do more active or productive labor, such as lodge events and charity events, prior to going dark in the months of July and August. Also, being associated with the fifth month, it can represent order, progress, and knowledge in Freemasonry. May, to Masons should be focusing on personal development, character building, and the pursuit of personal friendships. Educational sessions may help to enhance this personal knowledge. With that being said, I, as education officer, I am and will always be willing to offer every assistance required to assist you in your Masonic Journey. Richard Orden, PM. 2024, 2019

Fun Fact

Beyond the Books: Our Role in Nevada’s Classrooms

Mid April to mid May are the days we, as Masons, celebrate Nevada Public Schools. As we should all know and agree upon, children are the future. As such, we, as individuals and Masons, should try to contribute to their betterment. Nevada Public Schools were officially established in 1861 with the formation of First Territorial legislation for public education. The first organized schooling and education in Southern Nevada started at the Old Mormon Fort where the first organized classes started in 1856. At the present time, Nevada Public Schools are ranked 44th in the nation. Although there has been improvement, one of the key challenges is the lack of teachers. As Masons, we can show our support to the children by our program of reading to them, providing them with materials that some of them may not be able to afford, but most especially our presence and willingness to give time and act as role models. And I know we get our just rewards by the look on these children when we are there reading to them. Let us continue to do our part and make ourselves and community better. Richard Orden, PM. 2024, 2019

History

March : Masonic Youth Observation Month

March has been observed as Masonic Youth Observation month. There are 3 Masonic youth groups in Nevada: Demolay - Founded in 1919 by Frank S. Land in 1919 in Kansas City, Missouri. It is dedicated to developing young men ages 12 to 21 into leaders of character. It fosters skills in leadership, character building, and responsibility, focusing on loyalty, friendship, and integrity. Oasis Chapter of Demolay in Las Vegas meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month at MMT. International Order of the Rainbow Girls - Nationally established in 1922. Nevada IORG was established in 1924 as a Masonic-affiliated organization for young women ages 11 -20. It fosters leadership and community service. It focuses on empowering young ladies, building leaders, and strengthening communities through charity and service. Daylight Assembly #22 meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays at MMT and Las Vegas Assembly 9 meets at Vegas Lodge 32. Job’s Daughters International - Founded in 1920 by Mrs. Ethel Wead Mick in Omaha, Nebraska. It is a premier leadership and mentorship organization for young women ages 10 -20. It promotes friendship, community service, and personal growth through traditional, ritualistic meetings. It is operated through local “Bethels” that emphasize the values of faith, family, and charity. ‘Jobies’ are usually related to a Master Mason. Jon’s Daughters Bethel #5 meets on the first and third Saturdays at Vegas Lodge 32.

Famous Mason

George Washington

George Washington was initiated into Freemasonry at age 20 in Fredericksburg, Virginia on November 4, 1752. He was an active member for 47 years and the only US president to serve as Master of the Lodge (Alexandria Lodge #22) while serving in office, notably wearing his apron to lay the US Capitol cornerstone in 1793. Following his death at age 67 in 1799, he was buried with Masonic honors in his estate, Mount Vernon, Virginia.
